Volunteers’ Week

We were delighted to welcome Rafaela Ricardo from Free the Children who delivered an eloquent and inspiring talk to our children about the importance of volunteering. She spoke powerfully about the true story of Iqbal Masih, a 12-year-old former child slave who had been murdered because he spoke up for human rights. Rafaela articulated passionately how we too can volunteer our time to help those less fortunate than ourselves and how this was possible in the context of a primary school. The talk was part of the Volunteers’ Week which the Olive School Hackney is current celebrating. Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the fantastic contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK – and is taking place from the 1-12 June 2016.
