Workshop on E-Safety

Close to 50 parents attended our highly informative workshop on e-safety today. They learnt about the potential benefits and harms to children and adults of using the internet and social media and were skilfully guided through the plethora of website, apps, and technologies. They learnt how to protect themselves and their children online as well as the importance of discussing ‘netiquette’ (online etiquette). The workshop forms part of the Olive School Hackney’s commitment to tackling bullying including cyber-bullying. The workshop was convened in collaboration with our Parent Council (Shura) and the feedback was very positive.

One parent commented: “My ability to keep my child safe online from home has improved as a direct result of this workshop.” Feedback from another included: “I am aware of so much now that I wasn’t before this session. It has prompted me to start taking more of an active role in my children using the internet.”

We’d like to thank Mr Jonathan Taylor from Besafe-Online for a thoroughly informative session and saintly patience in dealing with so many questions!
