Partnership with Parents
Creating a strong partnership with parents is fundamental to our success and crucial for the care of each individual child.
At the Olive School, we believe that pupils are always most successful when they know that parents and teachers are working together in their interest. We value your positive support in everything we do. When your child is first admitted you will be asked to sign a Home/School Agreement. This is an important agreement which demonstrates a commitment to working together for the good of your child. We hope you will be interested and enthusiastic about your child’s work, seeing that homework is completed as required and on time.
The Parent workshops and meetings are an opportunity for teachers and parents to work together. Some of the sessions look at what we currently do in school and offer advice on how parents might support their children’s learning. At other times we may be working together to generate ideas to make our school an even better place for the pupils to learn.
We also understand how important it is for you to have strong links with your child’s class teacher. These links ensure your child feels safe and secure in their environment and you feel reassured. Each parent will receive half-termly report cards and will be required to attend formal Parents’ Evenings in term 1 and term 2. After the written report, parents are welcome to make an appointment to discuss their child’s progress. In addition to this parents are encouraged to come and discuss any celebrations or concerns at any time.
We encourage parents to help their children to reinforce their learning at home. The curriculum overviews and parental support opportunities for this term can be found below on the following pages:
